Fourth Grade Teacher of
Math, Science, & Health

Hi Everyone!!!!

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!  I am Ms. DeWitt, a fourth grade teacher at Woodrow Wilson School #5.  I work along with my grade level partner Mrs. Arnott to create the amazing fourth grade team!  I am the Math and Science teacher to each and every fourth grader.  We have two fourth grade classes, one is my homeroom, and one is Mrs. Arnott's homeroom.  But regardless of the homeroom your child is in, you will have me as your teacher as well.

This may be somewhat of a rocky start, since we are navigating through this completely new way of teaching and learning, students and teachers as well, but we will start slowly and I will do my very best to teach you the Microsoft Teams program, and how to navigate through it.  It is a learning experience for all of us.

I recommend that the students use headphones or ear buds for live meetings so that they can concentrate on the meeting without any background noise.

Please take some time to watch the video linked below. It is very helpful when getting started with setting up your child's device and downloading Teams.

I am sure we will not be without technical issues or hiccups, but it will not be anything that we can't resolve or work through.
Please know that I am here for you and I will do my very best to try to help in any way that I can.  Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns as they arise.

I would like to have a complete parent email list. If you have not gotten an email from me to date, please send me an email so we may communicate jdewitt@gboe.org. Email will be the fastest and easiest way to get in touch back and forth.

It is important to note that students MUST be logged into Teams by 8:35 each morning.  Your child should use the school laptop, their school email address, and unique password to log into Teams.  Once they are in, they should click on the calendar to the left of the screen, and you will see your child's schedule.  Attendance will be taken so be sure to follow the schedule. More information will follow as needed.
I look forward to a great year, filled with challenges as well as fun!  Can't wait until we are back to normal life again and I can be in the classroom with my students watching them thrive.
