Letter of the Week:
Use the PDF file below to print out and make your own letter book to read along with me!
KINDERGARTENALPHABETBOOKSPRINTABLESABCEMERGENTREADERS.pdf

Check out the Letter Books Link under the "Useful Links Page"

While reading:
discuss what your child sees in the pictures: what do they see (transportation vehicles, colors, animals, people, etc.) what do they think is happening, how do they think the characters feel and why. You can also have your child retell the story with you, a sibling, or even a stuffed animal.

Other literacy skills: you can go over the parts of the book: front cover, back cover, the author writes the words and the illustrator draws the pictures. Have your child practice tracking print while they pretend to read. Have them practice holding the book correctly and turning the pages one at a time. Please continue to review the letters, the sounds they make, and writing their name.

Math

  • Counting by ones as high as they can go is an important skill.
  • We have also been working on identifying and describing shapes. Below I have created a shape identification chart you can use. I have attached the shape chart to the “Useful Links” part of my webpage. It is under “RemoteLearningWk2” *above I have attached a shapes video I made*
  • Patterning is also important: we have been working on AB patterns- example- blue, red, blue, red. Before we left, we started working on ABB patterns - blue, red, red, blue, red, red,. I have attached a patterning game they can pay online, but you can also take items around your house, make one of these patterns, and have your child fill in what goes next. They can also practice making their own patterns. https://www.abcya.com/games/mobile/fuzz_bugs_patterns
